Spend a Sunny Spring Day at Virginia Highlands Park

December 4th, 2020
Can you believe it’s already May? The flowers have bloomed, trees are full again, the sun is making more appearances and it’s getting warmer by the day. It’s the perfect time to soak up all the outdoor time you missed all winter long. An ideal spot to frequent for all the outdoor fun is Virginia Highlands Park on Hayes Street.
The park offers so many recreation options for all ages, and plenty of space to roam and enjoy nature as it’s situated on over 20 acres of land. If you’re a sports lover, you’re really in luck, because they have a soccer field, tennis courts, basketball courts, baseball fields, and a volleyball court. If you’re competitive but running-related sports aren’t your thing, you can check out their petanque courts, which is a game similar to bocce.
During the summer months when you’re in need of a cool down, you may want to bring the kiddos to the “Sprayground”, aka a playground with water features, it’s super fun! There are also public restrooms, plenty of parking and lots of picnic tables and spots to grill. It’s the perfect spot to spend a sunny day and enjoy the great outdoors!
